Chapter Three

THE MAINE BRANCH of the Family

(A)	ROBERT KILLOUGH, b. 1681, Co. Antrim, Ire.; d. 1737, PA; m. Margaret Finley. He and his family, along with his brother John and wife, left Ireland early in 1718 and arrived in Boston on "The William" on August 4. Their sons were David, Finley, John and possibly Allen. Finley's descendants have documented their story from the time these two brothers arrived in Boston.

	(3)	FINLEY KILLOUGH, b. 1711, County Antrim, Ireland; m. Mary Young, b. 12 JUN 1700; d. 21 SEP 1795; probably bur. Old Settlers' Cem., Warren, Knox Co., ME. He immigrated to Boston with his father's family and settled in Freetown, Massachusetts, southeast of Worcester. Later they located in Portsmouth, Rockingham Co., New Hampshire. In 1735, the Killough family and the Young family went to Pennsylvania together. Robert decided to settle there but the Youngs decided to go back north to settle. Finley had married Mary when he was 14 and she was 23. He decided to go with his wife's family to what eventually became Warren, Maine. They were among the first settlers of this village in what was then the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Finley and his family were at Louisbourg, Cape Breton County, Nova Scotia, during King George's War in 1745 when New England forces, supported by the British Navy, took over the fort from French troops. He stayed there for some time to help garrison the fort. During this time, Finley re-adopted the Scottish spelling "Kelloch". Modern day members of the family use the spelling "Kalloch". Six ch.
